Is spider lily an indoor plant?

Hymenocallis Littoralis and known as Spider Lily. This name reflects its spider-shaped flowers. The plant produces an elegantly curved petal with very long stamens that extend outward over a long stem. It is unique that this one lily does not have leaves when it blooms. It’s happening because when it’s time to bloom, the leaves die and get replaced by the flowers.

Spider Lily

Spider lily comes from China and Korea. As they sprout, they can reach a height of three feet or 90 cm. They need more space from one another. 

Spider lily needs bright sunlight, so make sure to place them in a sunny location. It is better in summer to keep spider lilies in an open room. Meanwhile, in winter, put it indoors. They need air with a temperature of 55°F/13°C at night.

After planting the bulbs, a very important point in its growth is water. Be sure to water the plant regularly until you see growth emerging from the bulbs. Continue watering moderately throughout the growing season. 

In summer, the spider lily leaves will begin to wither. When this happens, stop watering and allow the soil to dry. Remove yellowed leaves. The rest let the rain replace your work. Spider lilies bloom beautifully after the summer rains are over. After the flowers bloom, dig up the spider lily to plant a new plant. It can take a season or two for them to bloom again.

In terms of propagation, it is good to divide or separate spider lily bulbs once every seven years or so. This is done to prevent them from crowding in one location.
