Rainbow Beauties: Pride Month Hair and Makeup Ideas for the Bold

7 min read

Pride Month is here!

It’s time to get out your rainbows and show your pride for the LGBTQ+ community. You can celebrate many different ways this month, but we think one of the best ways is with a rainbow hair and makeup look.

These bucket-list looks are guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Whether you’re heading out for the night or marching in the Pride parade, these looks will have you feeling amazing and representing all colors of the rainbow with pride!

Celebrate Pride Month this year with rainbow hair and makeup ideas! Check out our blog post below to find some tips for blending the two together.

Rainbow Eye Gradient

This is a great makeup look for the bold. Use one color to define your base, and then take it up in intensity with tonal layers of colors moving from lightest to darkest on your eyelids.

For example: Start by applying blue shadow as a base all over the lid. Then use purple shadows as transitional colors, and finally use dark purple to finish off the bottom lash line.

Next is highlighting with light colors–namely white or any light color of your choice: Turn on natural lights in your room for this part because it can be difficult without proper lighting. Take some white eyeshadow (or eye shadow that matches skin tone) and highlight the brow bone, inner corners of eyes, nose bridge, and chin.

Lastly is contouring: Use a dark brown or black color to sculpt your cheekbones by using an angled brush on one side to define lines for shading.

Finish off with bronzer to warm up skin tone (or use blush if you want less intense) and nude lip color.

Rainbow Lips

Lips are one the easiest things to change in your look. To get rainbow lips, all you need is a bunch of different lip colors! You can use lipstick or gloss for this simple hack.

First, line up your products from lightest to darkest color so that it’s easy to make gradient lips on top of each other and have clean edges.

Start by applying a layer of the lightest color and then apply that same lip product to each lip, but use more product on your bottom lips than top to create depth.

Then take the next darker shade and do this again! You should have three colors in total now – one is lighter than the other two so keep it at that point in the gradient and continue layering.

The product will thicken up as you go, which is perfect because this way it’s easier to create clean lines with a lip brush.

After your final layers of color are in place, use your finger or a Q-tip dipped in makeup remover to thin out the edges so there aren’t harsh lines and your lips are all the same thickness.

Rainbow Cut Crease

Rainbows are not just in the sky, they can be on your eyes too! For those that love to experiment with makeup and color palettes, this look is perfect.

Rainbow Cut Crease will add some flair without being overwhelming or heavy-handed. Plus it’s simple enough for beginners to create themselves at home!

In order to make these baby rainbows pop you’ll need one light (white) and bright eyeshadow palette. Apply them liberally around the creases of your eyelid mixed together from lid up towards brow bone; soften any hard lines by smudging lightly upward so there aren’t harsh edges between different shades when blended.

Pick one darker color (black) and smudge it into the outer corner of your eye. Now you have a cut crease that’s ready for some rainbows!

Rainbow Brows

Rainbows are a fun and creative way to dress up your eyebrows!

For the best results, start with clean brows or fresh makeup. Choose from either an eyebrow marker kit or powders that come in many colors including champagne gold hues for dark hair tones, pink-violet shades for light brown hair, red-orange tones perfect for deep brunettes.

You can then use stencils of pearls to outline what you want your brow shape to look like as well as blending sponges/bristle brushes if desired before placing clear acrylic powder over everything so it dries on its own (unless you prefer pencil).

Then finally go back into any areas where you need more definition using black eyeliner which will not smudge or transfer. This will not only look great for the day, but it also doubles as a cool way to do your makeup on any given night!

Glitter and Sparkles

No Pride month celebration would be complete without some glitter! And, if you’re feeling extra bold this year, why not take your look to the next level with an eclectic mix of colors?

Create a rainbow look with glitter all over your face. To create this design, use gold and pink colors to highlight the top of cheekbones, eyelids, nose bridge, and lips. Use blue to paint two lines across the forehead like an imaginary bowtie or necklace tying together both eyes. Add silver sparkles on the top of the cheekbones and nose bridge, then finish off with a glittery pink on the lips.

Rainbow Curls

This rainbow hairstyle will make you a definite head-turner! Enhance your natural curls with pops of color and this bright, vibrant hair for the perfect Pride look.

To get these colorful waves, first, decide which colors you want to use. You can choose any color palettes from the primary and secondary sets or create your own blends. Second, divide your hair into three sections. Starting at the back of your head, curl one-inch pieces with a curling wand or iron and wrap them around to create these bright curly locks.

Third, use bobby pins to secure each section in place and continue this process until you have reached the front of your face. Remember that even if you don’t want the curls to show, you will need to pin up your hair in order for these rainbow locks to stay put.

Fourth, apply a styling cream or gel throughout your locks and finish with hairspray!

Metallic Rainbow Hair

One of the most popular hair colors this year is metallic. This color reflects light, so it’s perfect for making a statement with your locks in early summer. The best thing about metallic hair dye is that you can get subtle hues like rose gold or electric blue without having to commit to something drastic and permanent!

Add some blues and greens to your hair dye gradually until the desired color is reached

Be sure not to mix colors or you may end up with a murky green, brown, or purple hue instead of an eye-catching metallic.

Finally, make sure that you protect your locks from heat styling by air drying your freshly dyed tresses!

Rainbow Bangs

These rainbow bangs are a fun, creative way to express your true colors this Pride Month. The styles also come in various lengths and textures that will suit every personality type!

Bangs are a great way to change up your look without drastically changing your hair. It can be as simple or dramatic as you want it to be.

Bangs can be dyed to fit your desired color scheme, but if you only want the tips of the bangs to be colored or you have a short haircut we recommend using hair chalk. Using water and dry shampoo will wash it out in just one day!

For those with long hair who are looking for some length, a fringe is perfect!

Add Hair Accessories

A survey run by AllThingsHair has revealed that 75.90% of participants choose hair accessories to express their identity through hairstyles they wear.

Tiaras, headbands, and crowns are among the most popular hair accessories for a day at Pride.

A tiara is an easy way to spice up your look while taking part in one of the biggest LGBTQ+ celebrations. Headbands can be used as both a functional accessory (keeping strands out of eyes) or simply an aesthetic one. Crowns can be a more daring, yet meaningful accessory to wear during Pride Month.

There are so many different hair accessories to choose from, and they can be easily used for more than just Pride Month. Be creative in your rainbow-themed and experiment with a new accessory!
